AE Jam now prepares two Remote permission paths for every room: a view-only path for the crew and a separate editor path for the one person holding the control token. Guests can open a low-latency host-desktop view with audio, while the approved editor gets keyboard and mouse. The social layer stays AE Jam: lobbies, chat, DMs, files, GIFs, soundboard, notes, reactions and overlays.

A real 10-person editing room.
One host opens the workspace. Up to nine guests can join the room, talk, react, point things out and open the Remote viewer. The host can keep the room on After Effects or use any other desktop app.
One controller. No chaos.
The host grants one protected editor seat at a time. Everyone else receives view-only Remote access; only the selected editor receives the separate input-enabled credential. Handing off control moves that token to the next person.

AE Jam does not pretend ten independent copies of a complicated After Effects project can merge perfectly. Instead, the host keeps the real project while the room gives everybody a live, useful way to participate.

AE Jam is a Windows collaboration tool built around a live host project.
How many people can join one AE Jam room?+
Up to 10 people total: one host and up to nine guests. Everyone can watch, chat, react and use collaboration tools, while one person holds editing control.
What is the difference between a public and private room?+
Private rooms stay off the lobby browser and require the room code. Public rooms publish a lightweight listing so editors can discover them, preview the title and tags, then join from the Lobbies tab.
What information is visible in a public lobby?+
The directory shows the lobby title, host display name, description, tags, participant count, room code and selected theme accent. Your After Effects project, screen, chat and transferred files are not placed in the public listing.
Can multiple people control After Effects at once?+
No. Everyone can participate and watch, but AE Jam intentionally keeps one exclusive editor token. The host approves one person for keyboard and mouse input while the rest stay view-only; extra requests remain queued.
Does every guest need the same plugins and footage?+
Guests watch the AE Jam room stream and the approved controller gets a low-latency host-desktop session. They do not need an identical local project setup just to participate. The host machine still needs the project’s actual plugins, fonts and media.
Can we send files inside the room?+
Yes. AE Jam supports direct file transfer. Received files save into an AE Jam Shared folder and can be opened, revealed or imported into After Effects.
Will it work on every network?+
Most normal home connections should work, but restrictive school, workplace, VPN or firewall setups can interfere with AE Jam networking or the Remote engine. The number of simultaneous Remote sessions can also depend on the AnyDesk client/license being used; AE Jam itself still supports a 10-person room.
Why might Windows show a warning?+
This release is an unsigned test build. Windows SmartScreen may display a warning because the installer does not yet have a paid code-signing certificate.
